MENTORING
We recognise the difficulties of transitioning from law school to a law firm or joining Miranda laterally from another firm or organisation. As a result, we spare no effort to make such transition as smooth as possible. Each year, a partner or senior associate is assigned the responsibility to serve as the mentor and principal contact point for trainees. The mentor introduces the trainees to the Firm and our people and is the primary resource to respond to questions on topics such as Firm policies, benefits, compensation, technology, marketing, training, client relationships and other facets of a trainee life at Miranda. At an associate level, mentoring is ensured by the partner in charge of the practice group or department to which the associate is assigned. In addition, all Miranda partners maintain an “open door policy” to discuss work, career and worklife issues at any time. Whether it’s the direct mentor or any partner, Miranda attorneys are always willing and able to offer sound guidance and advice to trainees and associates, thus creating an environment of trust and communication.
We further believe it is crucial to provide regular and honest feedback to our associates and trainees regarding their performance. Associates and trainees are formally evaluated at least once a year. The process includes a feedback session with the practice group or department head which involves a detailed discussion of the results.
Successful mentoring and honest evaluation feedback helps to ensure that each lawyer is able to attain his/her maximum potential and qualities within the Firm.
