As part of a protocol previously established between Miranda and Portuguese law firm Vieira de Almeida & Associados (“VdA”), the firms promoted a half day workshop on “Patronage”, on 15 July. This initiative was aimed at associates of the Confederation of National Institutions for Solidarity and the Portuguese NGO Platform. The training sessions were conducted by Patricia Sousa Lima, Pedro Manuel and Catarina Belim (VdA) and Samuel Fernandes de Almeida (Miranda). The “Legal Framework for Third Sector Entities”, “Tax Implications of Corporate Tax and Property Taxes” and the “Tax Framework for Donations” were the issues under analysis. This initiative was part of the protocol signed by the firms in September of 2008 which sought to embody the common principles to both firms on the role they play and the responsibility taken in the community.
