Miranda and Fundação do Gil, a not-for-profit organisation, are pleased to announce that they have signed a cooperation protocol for pro bono legal services to be provided by Miranda.

“At Miranda we believe that our practice must go beyond providing paid legal services. In this respect, as an organisation that is well aware of its duty to help in the construction and development of a sustainable society, Miranda has long been committed to a strong policy of pro bono services in the most diverse areas, both in the country as well as outside”, said Rui Amendoeira, Miranda Managing Partner. “It is a great honour to be associated with a project such as this one. Over the years, Fundação do Gil has done remarkable work with children and adolescents facing difficult situations of extended hospitalisation and imprisonment. However, this organisation needs the aid and support of a vast number of areas in order to achieve its goals. Our contribution is only a minor incentive for it to better meet its purpose in the future”, concluded Rui Amendoeira.

With this protocol, signed for an initial term of one year, Miranda commits to provide legal services to Fundação do Gil in all of its projects, assist with all authorisation processes for residency of children under its care and/or their families and act on behalf of the organisation in all judicial matters.

According to Margarida Pinto Correia, Director of Fundação do Gil, “The success of this organisation’s projects was only made possible through a number of partnerships established throughout the years. This protocol is no exception. I believe that it will be of significant importance to us and I am certain that the cooperation between Fundação do Gil and Miranda will not end here”.

Miranda is involved in a number of other pro bono projects with organisations such as LPN – Liga da Protecção da Natureza (Portuguese Association for the Protection of the Environment), LPDA – Liga Portuguesa dos Direitos do Animal (Portuguese Association for the Protection of Animal Species), GRACE, Casa da Crinaça de Tires (Children’s Home of Tires), SOS Racism, World Community Grid, ICAF, among many others.
