Miranda recently announced the appointment of two new partners: Raul Mota Cerveira and Ricardo Alves Silva.

Raul Mota Cerveira is a graduate of the Lisbon Lusíada University Law School (1993) and joined Miranda in 2006. He focuses mainly on Public and Administrative Law and since 2005 has been recognized as an expert in Administrative Law by the Portuguese Bar Association. Raul also heads Miranda’s São Tomé and Príncipe Practice Group.

Before joining the Firm, Raul practiced as a solo practitioner and was also one of the founding partners of law firm Pupo Correia, Caboz Santana, Leão Pereira & Mota Cerveira.

Raul was an assistant professor at the Lusíada University from 1993 to 2004 where he lectured on Public and Administrative Law, Administrative Litigation, Constitutional Law and Community Law.

Raul Mota Cerveira states: “I was very satisfied to receive the news that I would be appointed partner. I see this appointment as the recognition of a lot of hard work undergone over the past 4 years. I share this satisfaction with all of those who work with me daily and give their all to this unique project, whose values and goals I share.”

Ricardo Alves Silva, a national of both Portugal and Australia, is a graduate of the Lisbon University Law School. He holds a Master’s Degree in Legal Sciences from the same school and he has been working at Miranda since 2004 focusing his practice mainly on the oil and gas sector and Administrative Law.

Head of Miranda’s Houston office between 2006 and 2008, Ricardo returned to Lisbon last year and he is currently heading the firm’s Houston and East Timor offices.

Before joining Miranda, Ricardo practiced at CERBA & Associates - Capitão Espanha, Rodrigues Bastos, Areia & Associates where he gained significant experience in Public Law, particularly, in Administrative and Environmental Law, Urban Planning, Regulatory and Expropriations. At CERBA & Associates, Ricardo worked in a number of projects ranging from the drafting of environmental statutes to administrative litigation. At that time, he advised a number of public entities in large-scale land planning and redevelopment projects.

Ricardo Alves Silva is an active member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), vice-Chairman of the Africa Committee and of the International Energy and Natural Resources Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA).

Ricardo Alves Silva claims that: “Although being a Partner with Miranda was never a goal in itself, I know that this appointment is the result of all my work since day one. I love what I do and it is a real privilege to be able to work alongside such great professionals. I see this appointment as an incentive and as challenge to keep on doing more and doing it better.”

One of our main goals has always been to promote a working culture which rewards individual merit and dedication. Both Raul and Ricardo are highly competent and dedicated professionals in their areas of practice and expertise. Their careers and achievements over the years have proven them to be more than deserving of such appointment”, concludes Managing Partner Rui Amendoeira.

Miranda currently counts 17 Partners in its team of 166 Attorneys.
