Miranda Holds Annual Retreat
Miranda held its Annual Retreat on 1st March. The event brought together lawyers and staff for a friendly gathering in order to reflect on the past year and to plan for the current year. The Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Luís Amado, was the guest speaker at the event.
According to Managing Partner Rui Amendoeira “2007, the year in which we celebrated two decades of existence, was very positive for our Firm. We expanded our international presence to East Timor, opened an office in Madeira, substantially increased our number of attorneys, created a Human Resources Department, and we were named, in conjunction with our associate offices, 'African Law Firm of the Year' for the second consecutive year. These accomplishments are more than adequate reasons for the Firm to be satisfied with what we have achieved. We believe that the results for 2008 will make us very proud as well”. Miranda´s Managing Partner remarked “On a day of reflection, contemplation and social interaction, it was an honour for us to welcome the presence of Mr. Luís Amado, Minister of State and Foreign Affairs. His explanation of the primary issues that affect Portuguese and European foreign policy was simply remarkable and resulted in an excellent experience for all in attendance”.
The retreat took place at Ribeiro Telles Plaza, in Vila Franca de Xira. The morning session consisted of multiple presentations that mapped out the Firm’s objectives for 2008. Lunch and “Team Building” activities, which filled up the afternoon, took place in the Equestrian Centre of Lezíria Grande, in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.
Rui Amendoeira summed up by stating “One of the primary concerns of this Board of Directors is to have all the members of the Firm committed with the issues that have an impact on the day-to-day affairs of the Firm. We consider essential for everyone to be in line with our values and, in this sense, it is extremely important to promote events of this nature to debate the future of our organisation”.
