Maria Eduarda de Lemos Godinho (born 1968), Senior Associate. Graduate of the Lisbon University Law School (1993). Admitted in 1995. Joined the Firm in 2009.
Maria Eduarda started her career in 1993 at the law office of Luís Brito Correia. She later joined Vasconcelos, F. Sá Carneiro, Fontes & Associados as an associate, working mainly in the area of corporate and commercial law. In 2004 she joined Uría Menéndez as Senior Associate in the area of corporate and commercial law.
Maria Eduarda has extensive experience in various areas of practice, notably in corporate and commercial matters. She has been involved in coordinating teams in projects related with mergers and acquisitions and restructuring of companies, both at national and international level.
She completed a LLM in European Community Law at the Bruges College of Europe (1993) with a thesis on “Implementation of the 2nd Banking Directive in the Applicable Portuguese Framework”.
The 2006 and 2007 editions the legal directory Chambers Global ranked her as “up and coming” in the area of Corporate/M&A for her “personable and client-oriented approach”. In the Chambers Europe 2008 edition she was noted for her “fine reputation in the corporate arena”. In the 2009 edition of Chambers Europe, for Corporate/M&A, Maria Eduarda is “highlighted for her range of legal abilities and careful yet combative style”, being ranked in Band 4. Additionally, in 2007 the weekly section of Jornal de Negócios covering the legal industry listed her as one of 43 most promising Portuguese lawyers.
Maria Eduarda is a regular contributor to newspapers and legal publications on several fields of law. She is also invited as a speaker in several conferences on a regular basis.
Maria Eduarda has taught Public International Law, International Contracts and European Business Law at the Moderna University and the European University of Lisbon. She also taught courses of Labour and Leisure Law at the National Institute for Tourism Studies.
In the Firm her practice is focused in the areas of corporate and commercial law.
Maria Eduarda is fluent in English, French and Italian.
