Diogo Xavier da Cunha (born 1971), Partner. Graduate of the Coimbra University Law School (1995). Admitted in 1997. Joined the Firm in 1999.

Diogo completed his fifth year of studies in Law at the University of the Basque Country, San Sebastian, Spain, which allowed him to become fluent in Spanish and to be familiar with the Spanish legal system. Following the completion of his law studies, Diogo started his practice as a trainee in a small office in Coimbra during 1995 and 1996. Also in 1996, Diogo moved to London and joined the English law firm Swycher & Co., a firm specialised in UK/Portugal cross-border transactions, where he stayed until 1999. In 1998, Diogo qualified as an English Solicitor.

He currently provides legal advice to a number of international companies doing business in Portugal and abroad. Diogo’s practice is predominantly of a corporate/commercial nature, with a strong energy component. He is regularly involved in a wide range of corporate transactions and has advised oil, mining, energy and other international and Portuguese companies in respect of various legal issues, such as company acquisitions, international commercial arbitration, oil & gas agreements, energy law, contract and company law and, in general, foreign investment operations.

Diogo attended a post-graduation in European Studies by the University of Coimbra (1996).

He is the Partner responsible for the Mozambique practice.

He is a regular contributor to several newspapers and legal bulletins, and has published articles and studies on several fields of law.

Diogo was ranked as an Expert in Corporate and M&A in the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 editions of the European Legal Experts Guide.

Diogo is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
