COVID-19: Extension of State of Emergency for Santiago and Boavista Islands

The state of emergency was extended until 14 May for Santiago and Boavista Islands through Presidential Decree No. 8/2020, of 2 May 2020, with the renewal for these islands of the temporary exceptional measures in force since 28 March, through Decree-Law No. 49/2020, of the same date.

The limitations related to travel outside the municipality of residence have been reinforced, requests for circulation are now exclusively addressed to National Civil Protection and Fire Service (“Serviço Nacional de Proteção Civil e Bombeiros”) through the online platform https://snpcb-mai.gov.cv/ and essential goods supply services must be closed at 8pm.

The state of emergency has ended for the island of São Vicente on 2 May and for the remaining islands on 26 April. For these islands, the previously restrict circulation measures and social distance remain in force, including the prohibition of national and international flights.

These restrictive measures will be progressively lifted, in line with the changing epidemiological situation on each island.
