COVID 19: Newly Updated Public Calamity Measures

New public calamity measures were enacted by Presidential Decree No. 39/21, of 9 February 2021. The new statute amends and updates the rules established by Presidential Decree No. 10/21, of 8 January 2021, on the prevention and control of SARS-COV-2 virus and COVID-19 and the functioning of public and private services, social equipment and economic activities during the period of public calamity.

As the spread of the virus appears to be relatively controlled, some of the measures, notably recreational, were now slightly relieved. However, due to the new strains of the virus, the authorities have been cautious requesting, in addition to the negative RT-PCR test carried out within 72 hours prior to the trip, a test for all travelers upon arrival to the country. The new measures will be in force as from midnight on 10 February 2021 until 11 March 2021, and will be subject to new amendments according to any changes in the pandemic situation.
