DEALINGS WITH CORRESPONDENT BANKS AND CLIENT BANKS - GUIDE ON ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING AND FIGHT AGAINST FINANCING OF TERRORISM

The National Bank of Angola (“BNA”) issued Directive No. 02/DRO/DSI/15, of 10 December 2015, on prevention of money laundering and fight against the financing of terrorism in dealings between Angolan banks and their correspondent banks and client banks. BNA is thus seeking to:

 

(a) Clarify the concept of correspondent bank and client bank, detailing their link with money laundering and the financing of terrorism (ML/FT);

 

(b) Clarify the duties of Angolan institutions in terms of prevention of ML/FT, bearing in mind the relationship with correspondent banks and client banks;

 

(c) Guide the relevant Angolan institutions on the implementation of the ML/FT prevention requirements applicable to the dealings with correspondent banks.
