Reopening of Miranda & Associados’ Díli Office

Dear clients and friends

As you are aware, throughout the lock down measures imposed by the fight against COVID-19, Miranda & Associados and our Díli office staff decided to remain in Díli, to continue to provide the levels of service to which our clients have become accustomed, and which we have committed to provide over the years. Despite the challenges of remote working, our Díli office staff has continued to be of assistance to our client base, and to visit those official services that have remained open on a regular basis, so as to provide you with the most up-to-date legal advice.

We strongly believe that this decision was the only one compatible with our continued commitment to Timor-Leste. Miranda has made it a point of honor to maintain its Timor-Leste office continually open over the years, even during past difficult times, and to remain on the ground to support our Clients, friends, and the country in general in times of need. We are honored that our local staff (both Timorese and expatriates) continue to embody this commitment to the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President of the Republic, the Parliament and the Government have now approved the extension of the State of Emergency for an additional 30 days. Considering the relaxing of COVID-19 related measures in the State of Emergency implementation framework, our team has decided it is now time to reopen our office at Timor Plaza, thus allowing for in-person meetings to resume, if and when necessary. This said, as we believe it is crucial, despite the Government’s relaxing of measures, to maintain good practices aimed at limiting the possibility of a deterioration in the public health situation, we have voluntarily decided to adopt a number of safety measures that will be in place at our offices until further notice, and which we kindly request all visitors to our office to respect:

  • Please, use the hand sanitizer available at the entrance before touching the door or any other item or structure inside the office;
  • Please, place a mask over your mouth and nose before entering and wear it properly at all times while inside our premises;
  • If you don’t have a mask, please ask for one at the front desk;
  • If you wish to deliver any kind of notification or documentation, please deposit it in the tray available for that purpose at our front desk;
  • Please, keep a safety distance of at least 1.5 m from other clients and staff at all times
  • If you have a fever or show any other symptoms compatible with a COVID-19 infection, such as a dry cough or difficulty breathing, or have had a fever and/or such symptoms in the last 14 days, we strongly recommend you to isolate yourself from others and seek medical assistance. We will be available to continue to assist you remotely, should you wish. To that end, you may contact us by phone (+ 670 774 16 082 – João Gama Gonçalves // +670 771 795 15 Nuria Brinkmann) or e-mail ([email protected] // [email protected]).

Our personal assistant will be happy to help you, should you have any questions regarding these safety measures.

Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and continued support. You can continue to count on Miranda’s support, and our long term commitment to Timor-Leste’s development and future.
